- Access Key

Access Key is a unique code printed in the upper right corner of the Notice of Application for Unemployment Benefits.
Use the Access Key and the Applicant's Social Security Number to access the Employer Response system.
- Additional Address Line
-
Additional Address Line is a field where you may include information that is not part of your official U.S. Postal Service
delivery address. For example, you can enter "ATTN: Department Name" to help route the mail to a particular department in your company.
- Applicant's Social Security Number
-
Applicant's Social Security Number is located in the upper right corner of the Notice of Application for Unemployment Benefits.
You cannot enter your response without the Applicant's Social Security Number and the Access Key.
- Additional Payment
-
Additional Payment is a payment an employer makes to an employee who is involuntarily separated
from employment. Examples of an additional payment include wages paid to an employee instead of
providing prior notice of a layoff
(wages in lieu of notice)
and
severance pay
given due to a company policy or based on years of service.
Individuals are disqualified from receiving benefits under
Section 207.049 of the Texas Unemployment Compensation Act.
while receiving certain kinds of additional payment from their employer.
If you paid the applicant an additional payment, provide the Paid-through Date.
- Comments, Additional Information, or Explanation

Comments, Additional Information, or Explanation is a field you can use to:
- Contact Person's Name

Contact Person's Name field is provided in case you want TWC to contact a particular person at your business about the claim.
- Determination Address
-
Determination Address is where TWC mails all the determinations on the specified claim. The Determination Address
is the same address listed on the Notice of Application for Unemployment Benefits.
TWC uses this address unless you request an address change. Changing the Determination Address only affects
where we send determinations for this specific claim.
Change your address to an international address in the Comments, Additional Information, or Explanation field.
- Estimated Recall Date
-
Estimated Recall Date is the estimated date when the applicant is scheduled to return to work,
if the applicant was temporarily laid off.
- Fired
-
Fired is a reason for work separation. Choose Fired if the applicant is no longer working because you,
the employer, initiated the separation for reasons related to the applicant's actions or inactions,
rather than business conditions or work availability.
- Gross Wages
-
Gross Wages is the total amount of money, before deductions, that you paid the applicant during the dates
he or she worked for you or your business. Report gross wages in dollars only (e.g., $100, not $100.25).
- International Address
-
International Address: To change your address from a U.S. address to an international address,
enter the new address in the Comments, Additional Information, or Explanation field on the Work Separation Details page.
A TWC representative will update the information on your account.
- Last Date Worked
-
Last Date Worked is the last day the applicant actually performed services for you or your business.
- Never Worked Here
-
Never Worked Here is a reason for work separation. Choose Never Worked Here if the applicant never performed any type of service,
in return for pay, for you or your business.
- Permanent Layoff
-
Permanent Layoff is a reason for work separation. Choose Permanent Layoff if the applicant is no longer working through no
fault of their own, whether due to the business closing, no more work available, downsizing, etc.
- Quit
-
Quit is a reason for work separation. Choose Quit if the applicant voluntarily initiated the separation,
either by notifying the employer or by abandoning the job.
- Reason for Work Separation
-
Reason for Work Separation is the reason the applicant is no longer working for you or your business.
Valid reasons for work separation are:
Provide a detailed explanation of the separation. TWC may disclose to the applicant any information you provide.
If the applicant was fired, include relevant company policies, any warnings given, the date and nature of the last incident
causing the termination, and the name of the person who discharged the applicant. If the applicant quit, tell TWC the specific
reason given for quitting and if the applicant gave any notice. NOTE: Failure to provide complete information may result in
additional account charges and increased employer taxes.
- Reduced Hours

Reduced Hours is a reason for work separation. Choose Reduced Hours if the applicant is still working but his or her hours
have been reduced from full-time to part-time. If the reduction of hours is due to disciplinary reasons, provide an explanation
in the Comments, Additional Information, or Explanation field.
- Severance Pay
-
Severance Pay is a sum of money that an employee is eligible to receive upon separation.
If you paid the applicant severance pay, provide the Paid-through Date.
- Temporary Layoff
-
Temporary Layoff is a reason for work separation. Choose Temporary Layoff if the applicant is not currently working but
is expected to return to work in the near future.
- TWC Account Number
-
TWC Account Number is a nine-digit number that identifies you as an employer.
If the TWC Account Number shown in the Claim Information section is incorrect, enter the correct TWC Account Number in the
Comments, Additional Information, or Explanation field. A TWC representative will update the
information on your account.
- Vacation or Holiday Pay
-
Vacation or Holiday Pay is pay given to an applicant who is temporarily laid off and has a date to return to work.
If you will pay any vacation or holidays during the period of the layoff, include the Vacation or Holiday Paid-through Date.
- Wages in Lieu of Notice
-
Wages in Lieu of Notice are payments an employer makes to an employee who is involuntarily
separated without receiving prior notice*. If you paid the applicant Wages in Lieu of
Notice, provide the Paid-through Date.
*Or prior notice is given but is not sufficient as described under Worker
Adjustment and Retraining Notification (WARN) Act requirements. For more information on the WARN Act,
